Abstract
The place has an outstanding role to play in fiction. It is no more a mere fictional element, it is rather a character and motivator and receiver of an action. The study tackles the role of the place in Hanon Majeed’s novel The Death of the Mother and how it is a projector of the character’s psyche. The study discusses four types of the place which namely are movable, immovable, close, and open place.
