التعليم في تونس قبيل الحماية الفرنسية عام 1881م

الملخص
عانت البلاد العربية بشكل عام و تونس بشكل خاص من الركود الاقتصادي والاجتماعي فأصاب اهلها التخلف والجهل في كثير من النواحي ولا سيما من الناحية التعليمية خلال فترة السيطرة العثمانية ، وهذا ما لاحظه العديد من المتعلمين و المتنورين من ابناء البلاد اثناء دراستهم في بلاد الغرب او اثناء قيامهم بزيارة تلك البلاد ولاسيما فرنسا ، فتأثروا كثيراً بالتطور والانفتاح الذي تعيشه تلك البلاد .
لقد ادركت تلك الفئة وابرزهم خير الدين اهمية التعليم في بناء وتجديد المؤسسات والبلاد من ناحية القوة والضعف الذي اصاب بلاد الغرب مقارنة بالضعف والجهل الذي عم بظلاله على البلاد العربية ، فعمل جاهداً طيلة فترة حكمه على النهوض بالواقع العلمي لتونس فاهتم بالعلم والعلماء ، عن طريق بنائه للمدارس و اهتمامه بالتدريسيين وصرف المرتبات لهم ، فضلاً عن اهتمامه بجامع الزيتونة و بناء المدرسة العصرية ( المدرسة الصادقية ) و تأسيس المكتبة العبدلية لتشجيع التونسيين المتعلمين عن طريقها على كثرة الاطلاع و نشر الثقافة العامة.
كان خير الدين ومن معه حريصين في عملهم فعملوا على ابعاد رجال الدين عن إدارة وزارة العلوم والمعارف التي عملت على مراقبة كل المؤسسات التعليمية في البلاد و اوكلها إلى الجنرال حسين لما عرف عنه من ثقافة واسعة ، و رغم كل ذلك الا ان تلك الاصلاحات قد اندثرت و انتهت مع نهاية فترة حكمه فعادت البلاد الى ما كانت عليه من قبل .
