Abstract

The current research addresses the educational use of mythology in children's theater texts. It contains four sections. The first section addresses the research problem, its importance, and the need for it. The research problem was defined through answering the following question: How is mythology used educationally in children's theater texts?. The research objective is to show the way of using mythology in  children's theater texts for educational purposes.

The research scope was limited to the period between 2012 and 2024.

The second section includes the theoretical framework. It examines the educational use, mythology, and children's theater.

The third section contains the research procedures, including the research methodology. The researcher adopted the descriptive and analytical approach to study the chosen theatrical texts which are 28 texts. The research sample is determined by three theatrical texts. The paper is concluded with the analysis of the research sample. The fourth section contains the results. The most prominent of the findings is that paragraphs (5, 7, 9, 14, and 18) of the analysis form obtained the highest weighted mean value, as their weighted mean score reached (2) and their relative weight (100%) which indicates their high percentage of appearance in theatrical texts. The research also included the conclusions, most notably that mythology, with the precise educational employment of the theatrical idea, presents an ideal model for educational play. The research concluded with recommendations.
