Abstract
The subject of art history in( Mesopotamia) ancient Iraq is one of the basic subjects in art education curricula, especially that this subject, despite its importance, did not receive ample attention, and students find it difficult to understand this subject, and the researcher checked this through the students ' complaint to the researcher when she conducted another research, and to confirm this, she checked their grades and found them low in the first month, which called for the use of another teaching method, such as he was requested by the Department of art education in the subject of ancient Iraqi art history. The current study was based on samples of first-grade students from the Department of art education, as the first sample was a survey and numbered (80) a student and two other samples, one experimental and the other an officer, each of whom numbered (20) a student or a student.the researcher in the current study followed the experimental research method and used one research tool, an achievement test, and also used appropriate statistical means.
The researcher came to several conclusions, including that the use of divergent thinking develops students ' achievement better than lectures, and recommended several recommendations, including the use of the divergent thinking model in teaching other school subjects, as she suggested conducting the study(the effectiveness of using the divergent thinking model in developing the skills of students of the art education department in the subject of design)
