Non-cognitive Skills and their Relationship to Personal Influence among University Students

Abstract
The current research aims to identify non-cognitive skills and personal influence among university students. As well as to know the statistically significant differences according to the gender variable (males, females), as well as the statistically significant differences among university students according to the scientific specialization variable (scientific - humanities). The sample was limited On university students for the academic year (2023-2024) and for morning study, where the study sample consists of (200) male and female students from the University of Tikrit, with (100) male and (100) female students, chosen using a stratified random sampling method according to proportional distribution, and the researcher used the method In his study, the correlational descriptive method was adopted, and to collect data, the non-cognitive skills scale was adopted in its original version and translated into Arabic in a way that suits the Iraqi environment (Kaur, 2020). The scale includes (30) items divided into (3) sub-skills, which are (critical thinking skills, communication skills With others, personality skills), the personal influence scale was adopted (Abdul, 2018). The scale includes 26 items, and the data was collected and statistically processed using the t-test for one sample, the t-test for two independent samples, the Pearson correlation coefficient, and Cronbach’s alpha). The current results lead to a number of results: -Tikrit University students have a good level of non-cognitive skills، Tikrit personal influence، among Tikrit University students between males and females in personal skills, in favor of males، As for other skills, there are no differences between males and females،There are no statistically significant differences among Tikrit University students between scientific and humanities majors, in all skills and personal influence.، There is a correlation between non-cognitive skills and personal influence among university students (that is, the more the university student possesses non-cognitive skills, the greater his personal influence).In light of the results, the researcher recommends emphasizing the qualification of those in charge of the educational process at the university to train university students to practice non-cognitive skills because of their direct impact and their use in the academic context in particular and in life situations in general. The researcher put forward some proposals:، Conducting more research and studies on the subject of non-cognitive skills and personal impact on different samples from different educational levels
