Abstract

Given the importance of studying educational life in any country, elite of Iraqi writers and historians took the initiative of tracking the reality of education in Iraq during the Ottoman era. This research is a modest attempt to complete their efforts, as Kirkuk region witnessed a number of educational institutions at that time inherited from the Islamic Middle Ages to meet the needs of society of educated cadres.
Within the historical context of the development of education in the city of Kirkuk, it has gained a share of the associated development in the scientific renaissance that took place in the Ottoman Empire since the second half of the nineteenth century.
The main milestones of the educational life have become clear, with the development of new schools in the primary stage, and adopting the curricula and instructions approved by the Ottoman Ministry of Education, and forming a knowledge committee for Kirkuk Regio .
