Abstract

The research aims to identify the syndrome (FOMO) and the psychological effects during e-learning among university students/department of Educational and Psychological Sciences. The use of smart phones has become indispensable in our daily lives, and university students use these devices excessively during the period of e-learning and beyond for its urgent need to study at all stages because of its importance in transferring information to students and it is the only means of communication. It has become a form of behavior that is characterized by excessive use of the smart phone, and results in physical and psychological harm. It was defined as fear that involves anxiety, and anxiety to have better experiences with others, or to gain more useful information. Also, the need to stay on the internet constantly for fear of missing information related to their studies and university assignments. The research sample consisted of 250 students (118 males and 132 females). The descriptive method was used to complete the research requirements, and the FOMO scale was built by the researcher. It was found that there is a correlation between all items of the FOMO scale by gender (male and female) and school stage due to the excessive use of net sites and e-learning, especially among some of those who are afraid to go through the experiences of others and the activities they do. Finally: the more they are use, the more the fear of losing it increases.


The results of the research on the Fear of Missing Objective FOMO among university students during e-learning are: there is a high FOMO difference between students from losing their lessons due to e-learning, and it was found that females are more afraid than males because they are keener to attend lectures, as well as there are differences between female students of the third year is higher than the female students of the first stage, as they are more concerned about their future than the female students of the first year, because of the responsibility they have towards their friends and families and the age difference between them. In this paper, several proposals and recommendations were presented.
