A Geographical Analysis of the Poor Population in Salah al-Din Governorate for the Year 2019

Abstract
The absolute number of the poor depends on the number of the population, and the population of Salah al-Din Governorate varies in its number, and is not balanced between its geographical regions. Therefore, the administrative units with few inhabitants decrease the number of the poor, while their numbers increase in areas with heavy population, which creates a spatial variation in the distribution of the phenomenon of poverty. There is another prominent phenomenon of poverty in Salah al-Din Governorate, which is the big difference between rural and urban areas, as the proportion of the poor population in the countryside was 56.4%, compared to 43.6% in the urban environment and the matter differs when measuring poverty rates in each administrative unit, which is evident by dividing the number of poor population in each administrative unit by the total population of its population. Therefore, it appeared that there are administrative units that may be small in population, but they came first in terms of the poverty rate. The research revealed that The poverty rate across the governorate reached 15.7%, while the rate of poor families was 7.4% of the total number of families in the governorate.
