Abstract

Throughout its history, the Abbasid state went through various periods of weakness and political recovery, and despite the periods of that weakness, it still maintained its symbolic political spiritual authority over all the political activities of the Islamic world. Therefore, the various entities owed allegiance to the capital, Baghdad, in forms ranging from complete political subordination, to political subordination. The formality, and in both cases, the political traditions and customs took place for the ruler to obtain the blessing of the Caliph in Baghdad in order to confer on his rule the required legitimacy, and it is natural for this status to be withdrawn from the edifices built by the Abbasid Caliphate bearing symbolic data and evidence for that status, including the Nubian Gate, which is the main entrance to the House of the Caliphate in Baghdad, where it practiced some traditions and customs that reflected the political position of the Abbasid Caliphate, the door was gradually transformed into an administrative institution with wide tasks in managing the city.
