The Rural Roads in Kirkuk governorate: A Study in the Economics of Place

Abstract
The research aims at studying the network of the rural roads through which one reaches the rural settlements. It aims further to analyze the operational features and capabilities for a length amounting to 1332 km which has an economic importance. This importance is derived from 57.5% of the total length of the network of car roads in Kirkuk, a matter which depends on the methodological steps in order to determine the level of productivity and to exploit the transportation movement by the rural roads with a percentage 30%. This is represented by the levels of the operational productive efficiency of the car movement with a percentage 15.5/km, 16.7 passenger /km, 59 ton/km. The level of the commercial productivity is about 14.8 million passengers and 5.2 million kilometer tons. According to the results of the indications of the operational and productive efficiency of the rural roads, the trajectories of the rural roads in Al-Hawija and Daquq districts were characterized by a higher productive efficiency, a matter which requires the decision-maker to determine the priorities of development and improvement of the operational capabilities of the rural roads and offering development opportunities of the place through the economics of the rural roads
