Main Article Content
Abstract
The Farijun family ruled the Jawzjan state since the beginning of the fourth century AH (tenth century AD). The members of this family assumed the administration of the affairs of the Jawzjan state at first for the Samanid princes (26 AH/874 AD - 389 AH/998 AD), when the Samanid emirate fell at the hands of the Ghaznavids in the year (389 AH/998 AD), they continued to govern the state of Jawzjan for the Ghaznavids by virtue of their ancient relationship with them. The rulers of the Farijun family made strenuous political and military efforts in the Samanid and Ghaznavid eras; on the internal level, they contributed to maintaining the security of Khorasan; on the external level, they participated in the military campaigns that conquered India. The princes of the Farijun family were patrons of science and scholars, as the state of Jawzjan witnessed during their reign an active scientific movement, as well as great economic activity. They also used an elaborated system in managing the state, as they relied on an integrated administrative team, such as the workers who managed the affairs of their cities and villages, as well as the scribes. Each Frigoni prince had a scribe who wrote down books and consulted him regarding governance and administration of the country’s affairs.
