Historical Time Maryam Muhammad Qawwesh’s Poetry
Main Article Content
Abstract
Since poetry contains events and situations that constitute a part of history, before the advent of writing, it was the primary document that transmitted news between generations, and through which people could learn about the conditions of past nations. (See: Nasser al-Din al-Assad, 1987: p. 623) Since history is a part of time, poetry preserves the memory of the past through these transmitted stories and transmits their events to the present in various forms.
No literature is devoid of time, especially the past tense. This is perhaps due to "the inevitability of history's connection to time and its inseparability" (Siham Kazim and Israa Abdullah, 2016: p. 173). Since the writer writes from his or her heart, he or she must employ the past in his or her literature. This is due to the close relationship that arises between the feeling of nostalgia and history, which can be considered a discontinuous or fragmented time. Because it is ((the time that is devoted to a specific living thing, or a specific event, until it reaches its goal and is interrupted and stopped)) (Abdul Malik Murtad, 1998: p. 175) like the ages of creatures, and this time is longitudinal and does not repeat itself
