Abstract

The aim of this study is to analyze the role of Ramadan comedy in critiquing negative societal phenomena in Iraqi society through the examination of the series "Abjad Hoss". The theory of social responsibility was used as a basis for understanding how media works influence societal values. The analysis results revealed that the series focuses on inaccurately portraying social characters, with 80% of the content mocking education and knowledge. Issues such as cheating and seeking romantic relationships ranked second at 75%. The findings also highlighted other issues, such as causing trouble for others, using inappropriate language, and disrespecting professions, with the latter receiving a 10% rating. Based on these results, the study provided several recommendations to improve media content quality, including the establishment of a unified ethical code to enhance media discourse and foster collaboration between experts to ensure the production of comedy that reflects societal and professional values. The study also called for avoiding the distortion of educational and scientific issues, emphasizing the role of media in nurturing a generation that respects knowledge and professions.
