Abstract

The language and discourse on social media are complex and multifaceted topics, encompassing various aspects of linguistics, sociology, psychology, technology, and culture. This topic can be approached from several angles, particularly the characteristics of language on social media, such as abbreviations and the use of emojis. In terms of linguistic diversity, social media brings together people of different languages and cultures, leading to linguistic and cultural overlap. Additionally, the language used is often informal and includes colloquial expressions. From the perspective of creativity and innovation, social media provides a platform for creative expression through images, videos, music, and other media. In conclusion, social media serves as a mirror reflecting the social and cultural linguistic changes in contemporary societies. Thus, language continues to evolve alongside technological advancements and changing patterns of social interaction.
