The Meanings and Dimensions of the Main Character in the Theatrical Texts of Muhyiddin Zangana
Main Article Content
Abstract
The main character in a theatrical text, with its components and characteristics, forms the essential focal point through which other elements of the theatrical text arise. It is the most important character among others in the theatrical text, through its implications and dimensions. In some texts, we find that the main character may be present or absent depending on the nature and idea of the written theatrical text. In light of the above, the researcher divided the subject of his research into four sections:The first section includes the methodological framework, encompassing the research problem: "What are the implications and dimensions of the main character in Muhyiddin Zangana's theatrical texts?" The importance of the research is evident through studying the implications of the main character in Muhyiddin Zangana's theatrical texts. The need for it emerged through attempting to benefit from the implications of the main character in the theatrical text. The research aim includes identifying the implications and dimensions of the main character in Muhyiddin Zangana's theatrical texts. The research boundaries include the period from 1987 to 2000, chosen according to the transformation that Muhyiddin Zangana's texts underwent during that period, as we noticed this transformation at the level of character building. The spatial boundary is Iraq, as all the texts were written in Iraq. The objective boundary included studying the implications and dimensions of the main character and monitoring everything related to these implications and dimensions in Muhyiddin Zangana's theatrical texts, as well as defining terms. The second section (Theoretical Framework) was divided into two sections: the first section covers types of main theatrical characters, which were divided into present main characters and absent main characters. The second section was divided into two axes: the first on the dimensions of the main character and the second on the implications of the main character and indicators of the theoretical framework. The third section (Research Procedures) included the research community, research sample, research tool, research methodology, and then analysis of the sample represented by the following texts:
- The Thorns play
- Speak, O Stone play
- The Punishment play
The fourth section dealt with results and conclusions, a list of sources and references, and an English summary. The research came out with a number of results and conclusions, most notably:
- 1. The main character in all research samples had a clear and influential role in the overall theatrical event and is the main driver of the theatrical text.
- 2. The absent main character in the play "The Thorns" is what moved the events of the play despite its physical absence.
