The seven jurists of Medina and their influence on the science of biography and battles
Main Article Content
Abstract
The science of battles and biographies is one of the most honorable sciences, and the most dangerous, due to the honor of its subject, which is the news of the life and biography of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace. The nation’s predecessors paid great attention to preserving these news and biographies and classifying the works in them since the first century. In fact, the works on it are considered the first books to be published. It was written by Muslims, and one of its most important arts was knowing the classes and biographies of the imams, The seven jurists played an important and prominent role in preserving and recording the biography of the Messenger of God (may God bless him and grant him peace), because there is a close connection between every pillar of the religion and knowledge of the biography of the Messenger of God (may God bless him and grant him peace). They were keen to know the most minute details of his life, write them down, and teach them. For the people, their source in this matter was the Companions of the Messenger of God (may God’s prayers and peace be upon him), who were contemporary with the Messenger of God (may God’s prayers and peace be upon him), and the most prominent of them playing a role in this field was Urwa ibn al-Zubayr, who wrote a book that is considered one of the first books written on the biography of the Prophet. Although it has not reached us, the abundance of narrations from Ibn Ishaq and Al-Waqidi conclusively indicates that Urwa was the first to write down the biography in the form that was known later.
