Etymological Study of Colloquial Words in the Spoken Dialect of Al-Buhashma as a Model
Main Article Content
Abstract
The importance of this research may lie in tracing the origins of colloquial and commonly used words in the spoken dialect of Al-Buhashma, based on statements and evidence from language dictionaries and poetry collections. The aim of studying this topic is to demonstrate the connection between the colloquial words 'used' in our vernacular language and the standard Arabic language, as well as to identify what is considered foreign or unique to the vernacular without a counterpart in standard Arabic. This is achieved by highlighting the similarities and differences between them, in addition to induction and semantic analysis.
The discussion about linking dialects to standard Arabic is not new to this era but has been ongoing throughout different periods and at various levels. As a result, standard Arabic has become a mixture blended with dialects, and this mixture has led to the transfer of many characteristics from Arabic dialects to standard Arabic. Therefore, in this research, we will address the Hashmawi dialect and investigate whether it has roots in standard Arabic.
