Abstract

The research aims to discuss the data of the renewable energy industry as well as the reality of energy in Iraq. The geographical potentials supporting the development of the renewable energy industry. Government trends in this field and the most important planned and implemented projects. The research is based on three themes. The first deals with the reality of energy production in Iraq. where it became clear that 57% of electricity is obtained from gas stations as well as 21% from steam stations. These stations use fossil fuels and are polluting the environment. The second theme dealt with renewable energy data in  Iraq as it was found that it contributes only 2 % of the total electrical energy in Iraq. The actual production in (2022)  reached (493.5) megawatts which represents 26.47% of the designed capacity. The low efficiency of the stations is due to several reasons. including water scarcity and poor management and the old stations and lack of development. The third axis dealt with the prospects for investing in renewable energy in Iraq. and Iraq was one of the leading countries in the field of renewable energy. as in 1982 the building of  the Solar Energy Research Center in Al-Jadriya was equipped with heating. cooling. and hot water supply using solar energy. and the Abu Nawas project to use photovoltaic panels in (273)Apartment . Currently. there are several renewable energy projects under implementation and planned to produce megawatts distributed throughout Iraq.                                                           (77559)
