Abstract

This study deals with of subject the Surname of Al-Tawananna in the Hittite kingdom (1670 -1207 BC. This Surname is one of the important and influential Surnames granted to the queen in the Hittite kingdom, and it means the first lady. From the early Khatian traditions around it, the Surname became later clear in all religious, political, economic and legal aspects, and it became parallel to the Surname of Labarna, which was called the Hittite king, as Queen Al-tawananna became equal to King Labarna in all respects and was always mentioned with the king in religious texts This is evidence of the prestigious position and high status enjoyed by the Hittite queen. In addition to her position and status, this Surname added to her many privileges, foremost of which was keeping the Surname for life even in the event of the death of her husband, the king with whom she participated in this role for the first time.
