Spatial Analysis of Soil Properties in the Irrigation Project of Tigris Area

Abstract
The Tigris irrigation scheme is of the utmost importance in Iraq, particularly in the Salah al-Din Governorate. This study evaluates the efficiency of the Tigris irrigation project in satisfying the water needs of vital crops in the Samarra district of the Tigris. Due to the variable climatic conditions in this area's dry region, the project's efficacy is of interest. Depending on the quantity of precipitation, the study area's requirements can be met. The inception of the project was motivated by the desire to alleviate the difficulties associated with the operation of numerous pumps and inadequate irrigation in the region. The initiative to irrigate the Tigris was initiated in 1981 and later completed. In 1984, the project irrigated an area measuring 18,000 dunum, and its primary channel measured 22 kilometers in length. The results indicate that the soil in the location analyzed is suitable for agricultural purposes.
