Sata’a Al-Husari and His impact on Scientific an Intellectual Life in Iraq
Main Article Content
Abstract
Sate' Al-Hosari is considered one of the first to put the building blocks of Arab nationalist thought and cultural unity as a step in achieving Arab unity. The study consists of a summary, three sections, and a conclusion. The first section dealt with the origin, upbringing and life of Al-Husari, as our nationalist thinker lived eighty-eight years moving between Arab countries, during which he held many educational and administrative positions, and laid the rules of national education in Iraq, introducing modern and advanced curricula that keep pace with the times, as well as establishing many institutes and colleges that it has become the source for the formation of scientific cadres in various disciplines.
The focus in the second section was on the pioneering role played by Sate’ Al-Husari through his assumption of the position of Director of General Education in Iraq for a not short period, during which he worked on developing and modernizing the educational system in Iraq to keep pace with the formation of the modern Iraqi state
One of the important issues that this section will address is the issue of establishing Al al-Bayt University and his position on it, as Al-Hosari is the main reason for closing it through his opposition to the idea of establishing it, which we will explain in the course of the study
As for his position on religion, it was the title of the third topic of the study, in which we touched upon his propositions and ideas that were included in his books and articles on Islam and Islamic unity and the convergence of religion with nationalism and the extent of their opposition
The conclusion came to highlight the most important basic premises of Al-Hosari in his pioneering educational experience in Iraq and its most important scientific and intellectual results and outputs, the results of which we feel until this moment
The study relied on a variety of sources of books and articles, which were mentioned in the study, which provided the paper with important ideas that enriched it and strengthened its results.
