Anglo-Persian Oil Company in Qatar: Efforts and Negotiations
Main Article Content
Abstract
The British government took advantage of the First World War's favorable conditions to sign an agreement with the Sheikh of Qatar (Abdullah bin Qasim Al Thani) on November 3, 1916, Qatar is one of the most important Arab Gulf states, and it is a peninsula surrounded by water on three sides, with an area of about (11437) km2, and of a desert nature. While Britain hurried to forums, India focused on its territory and natural resources. A tympany for this project has laid the foundation for influence and control, and the British government was successful in using all of its diplomatic, political, and military resources to secure Qatar's privilege and stop it from falling under the control of the American oil police. Prior to withdrawing his backing for the Anglo-Persian Oil Company for strictly commercial motives, he first assumed a major position.
