Cognitive Proficiency and its Relation to Teachers’ Mental Attentiveness

Abstract
Education is an outstanding element in the contemporary social structure. As such, the study aims at answering the questions of the level of epistemological competence among instructors and elaborating on the difference of such competence among instructors according to their sex. The study is confined to the instructors of Salah al-Din governorate. It entails 400 instructors of the two sexes. In order to achieve the aim of the study, the researcher relies upon two measurable tools, namely these of epistemological competence and cognitive promptitude. The study concludes the followings: there are statistical difference in the level of epistemological competence among the members of one family. However, there are difference if they are measured according to sex. The study further concludes that there is a statistically significant correlation between cognitive efficiency and mental efficiency.
