Main Article Content
Abstract
Dahlak is a well-known island in the historical map because it was a preferable place of exile during Umayyad era. This is the main reason behind choosing this particular topic. The study aims to answer the following questions: Why did Umayyad chose Dahlak Island to be a place of exile for those who are punished? What were the reasons and the dimensions of that exile, were they political or sociological or moral? The study, therefore, examines the historical and geographical background of this island and thus examines the reasons behind choosing this particular location as a place of exile.
