Abstract

Kurdistan region of Iraq particularly Erbil city has many human and service components. The restaurants are among the service sectors which are used in economic activities to meet the requirements of economic and social development. Geographical conditions and development have played an important role for the city of Erbil in locating and distributing restaurants and affecting the distribution of administrative, commercial and residential uses to serve the population and access easily to them.
The study aims to identify the geographical analysis of restaurants distribution in Erbil city using GIS, also to know the number of different restaurant types, due to the variation, the size of restaurants and their conformity, the study relied on the descriptive analytical method to describe and analyze patterns of geographical distribution, also adopted the statistical methods in order to obtain the best results using GIS techniques based on arcGIS v.10.5 using spatial analysis methods.
The field verification showed that the Center of Erbil has a
significant number of restaurants with multiple areas and varieties, including tourist restaurants, fast food, various small and medium-sized restaurants. the results of the analysis shows that the clustered pattern is the prevailing pattern in the distribution of restaurants in Erbil city
