Abstract

Studies that dealt with the economic and financial aspects in the Arab Islamic state have focused on the books of jurisprudence, tax, and money, and they have abandoned the history books that collected and contained many rare and very important texts, referring to the economic and financial aspects, and among these books is the book The History of Al-Yaqoubi by Ahmed bin Abu Ya’qub, the Abbasid writer known as al-Ya’qubi, whom I found very valuable in Islamic history, because this book is one of the comprehensive books, as the author’s approach is a distinct approach. The narration, and accordingly, Al-Yaqoubi was accurate in his information, truthful in his novels, which gave his books scientific value and his novels appreciated by researchers and authors.
The importance of this book also lies in the fact that Al-Yaqoubi showed an interest in the economic and financial aspects, which were mostly dependent on the trips that he made. He wanted to trace the development of the procedures undertaken by the Caliphs with regard to economic matters throughout the period covered by his history to the year 259 AH, and therefore this distinguished position of the book "The History of Al-Yaqubi" is what motivated me to address the economic and financial aspects in the Arab Islamic state, which Al-Yaqubi presented in this book.
