Crafts and Professions among the Arabs before Islam through the Writings of Ibn al-Kalbi (A.H -202/ D.H -918)

Abstract
The study of the economic history of the Arabs before Islam- in the recent period - is receiving interest on the part of researchers, as it is possible through the study of this vital field of history to identify economic activities and their impact on the advancement of society since ancient times, and their impact on the standard of living of those in charge of them. The aspects of this activity are the professions and crafts that spread in the Arab society before Islam, including in the city of Mecca. The importance of the study springs from aim of revealing the most important professions and crafts that spread in Mecca before Islam through the narrations of Ibn al-Kalbi (d. 204 AH/819 AD).
