The Effectiveness of a Program Based on Cognitive-Behavioral Counseling to Develop Social and Personal Skills for Individuals with Intellectual Disability

Abstract
The current study aimed to verify the effectiveness of a program based on cognitive-behavioral counseling to develop social and personal skills for people with intellectual disabilities. The study sample consisted of (20) children with intellectual disabilities, distributed over an experimental sample of (10) children, and a control group of (10) children. They were applied on a scale (social skills and personal skills scale: prepared by the researcher), and the researcher used the semi-experimental approach. The results of the study resulted in the presence of statistically significant differences between the mean scores of the experimental group members and the control group members in the post-measurement on the social skills scale and the personal skills scale for people with intellectual disabilities. In favor of the experimental group, there are statistically significant differences between the mean scores of the experimental group in the tribal and remote measurements on the social skills scale for people with intellectual disabilities favor of the post-measurement. Intellectual property in favor of dimensional measurement, there are no statistically significant differences between the average ranks of the experimental group's scores in the post and follow-up measurements (two months after the end of the program) on the personal skills scale for people with intellectual disabilities.
