Reflection of Iraqi Translator's Invisibility in Translating Israeli News in Digital Journalism
Main Article Content
Abstract
This paper investigates the translators' invisibility in translating certain excerpts collected from a media discourse of three different Israeli digital journalisms in English language to see how the translators hide themselves in such a discourse and to what extent they are influenced by the ideological perspectives towards the Israeli practices against the Palestinians. Translator's invisibility is very significant factor to determine how he/she presents the ideas and views about certain public issue away from the ST writer, taking into account the cultural background of the Target Text (TT) readers. The invisibility is regarded as an indicator of the translator's thoughts and orientation when translates form one language into another language because of the contradictory of the views between Source Text (ST) writer or speaker and the TT reader or listener. In this paper, the invisibility is investigated according to Venuti's model which considers it as a main concern and it is reflected in the translation of the news excerpts when the writers describe the events and what is going in the area. The aim of this paper is to show how the translators use stetting's strategies in translating news that adopted according to the translator's invisibility.
